The Worst Dressed Man in Britain? Chris Harris | Presenter
A few weeks ago, a message landed in our inbox from Chris Harris.
“I’m the worst dressed man in the UK… can you help?”
No build-up. No context. Just that.
Naturally, we said yes.
A Man Who Knows His Strengths..
Chris arrived at our Cheltenham store the only way that made sense… in his Daimler.
Relaxed. Unbothered. Completely comfortable in what he was wearing.
In fact, he was almost proud of it.
There was a sense that he’d opted out of fashion a while ago. Not out of rebellion… more out of practicality. When your day can take you from track driving to presenting to an event, you don’t have time to think about what works with what.
But he did say something that stuck with us:
"It might be time to up my game."
And more importantly… he already had an idea of what that might look like. He’d seen &SONS. That’s why he reached out.
Where Do You Even Start?
We kept it simple. No rails full of “options”. No pressure to try things that didn’t feel right.
Just a conversation.
The team worked through the collection with Chris, piece by piece.
What he liked. What he didn’t. What he’d actually wear.
We started with familiar ground. Chore jackets. Sunday Shirts. Elder Henleys.
From there, we nudged things slightly.
A wider leg trouser… something Chris admitted he wouldn’t have picked up himself. The Easy Chinos changed that fairly quickly.
Comfort mattered. Probably more than anything else.
When you spend hours behind the wheel, the last thing you want is to feel restricted. That’s where a lot of brands fall short. They look the part, but they don’t live well.
Chris needed both.
Clothes That Keep Up
What became clear quite quickly is that Chris doesn’t have one “type” of day.
He has all of them.
Track driving. Filming. Events. Travel.
Sometimes all within a few hours.
So whatever he wears has to move with him. Not just physically, but in how it looks.
That’s always been the point of &SONS.
Clothes that work across the day, without needing to be changed halfway through it.
Figuring It Out
One thing Chris was honest about… styling.
He’s got pieces he likes. Jackets he goes back to.
But building an outfit around them? That’s where it gets less certain.
And that’s where things started to click.
As we worked through the collection, it became clear that everything was designed to sit together. No guesswork. No overthinking.
A small number of well-chosen pieces… worn in different ways.
That’s all it really takes.
The Hemingway
Chris’s final choice was the Hemingway suit.
He’s got a few more formal events coming up, including Goodwood, and wanted something that elevated his look without feeling like he’d borrowed someone else’s wardrobe.
He went with the Navy.
Simple. Versatile. Easy to break apart and wear separately if needed.
He kept it understated. An Elder Henley underneath. Nothing forced.
Still himself… just sharper.
A Vest. After 20 Years.
Somewhere along the way, we convinced Chris to try a vest.
His words, not ours:
“I haven’t worn one of these in over 20 years.”
That didn’t last long.
Cleaner neckline.
Better movement.
A subtle difference you notice straight away.
He left with one in every colour. Which probably says enough.
Not a Makeover
This wasn’t about turning Chris into something he’s not.
No big reveal. No before and after.
Just a shift.
A bit more consideration. A bit more confidence.
And maybe… the start of enjoying it again.
Because for most of us, that’s all it is.
Not fashion.
Just feeling like yourself… on a good day.
