Beyond the films, McQueen was a serious competitor, spending time behind the wheel and on the bike, most notably at events like the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Baja 1000. It was not a persona, it was something he lived.

That connection carried forward. His son, Chad McQueen, followed a similar path, building his own career in motorsport, both as a driver and within performance and automotive culture. Today, that thread continues with Chase McQueen, Steve’s grandson, with the same sense of focus and discipline still present.

The checkerboard flag has long marked the end of a race. Here, it also marks a lineage, carried through three generations and grounded in a shared understanding of racing and what it represents.
