In the 1960s and '70s, boxers like Muhammad Ali, and fictional characters such as Rocky Balboa, popularised the image of athletes layering up in hoodies after rigorous training sessions. The thick fabric offered insulation for muscles, which was crucial to help prevent injuries, maintain body temperature, and aid in the muscle recovery process.
