A TRIBUTE TO THE INTREPID MOUNTAIN EXPLORERS

Our Founder, Phil, collaborated closely with a distinguished UK sheepskin manufacturer to craft a garment that captures the spirit of the '70s while remaining in line with the &SONS aesthetic. The result: a limited-edition Shearling Jacket born from the soul of adventure.

As the temperature drops, our creativity with style grows. It's the season of layers and experimentation, and it begins with the perfect shearling jacket.

"Please use the specific size guide below to ensure your jacket is the perfect fit. Please Note: All measurements are taken flat. All measurements are garment measurements NOT body measurements. Due to the thickness of sheepskin, the garment measurements may look larger than our usual sizing."

ORIGINS

In the tumultuous era of the 1910s and 1920s, a new type of outerwear emerged, destined to become a symbol of warmth, durability, and adventure. Shearling jackets, with their plush sheepskin lining, first gained prominence during World War I. Aviators, soaring through the frigid skies in open-cockpit planes, needed protection from the bone-chilling cold at high altitudes. The insulating properties of shearling, a soft, natural lambskin with the wool still attached, made it the ideal choice for aviators. As the world moved past the turmoil of World War I and into the Great Depression of the 1930s, shearling jackets found a new purpose. They became the go-to outerwear for adventurers, hunters, and ranchers. The rugged practicality of shearling proved invaluable for hunters navigating the wilderness in search of game. Ranchers working in the cold, early-morning hours found solace in the warmth shearling provided. It was during this time that shearling jackets solidified their reputation for being not only warm but also tough and reliable.

The post-World War II era brought with it a new wave of cultural change, and Hollywood icons like Marlon Brando and James Dean, known for their rebellious spirit and rugged style, donned shearling jackets in some of their most iconic roles. Shearling jackets became synonymous with rebellion, coolness, and style. They have truly come a long way from the cockpits of World War I planes, the rugged landscapes of the 1930s, and the silver screen rebellion of the 1950s, proving that the allure of shearling is as enduring as the material itself. Made in the UK
