Long before Hollywood, the A-2 belonged to the skies.
Introduced in 1931 as standard issue for the United States Army Air Corps, it was earned by those who qualified as aircrew. Built for life in the cockpit, it quickly became more than military issue. Pilots wore their jackets everywhere, often personalising them with squadron insignia, artwork and the marks of years in service.
Then, in 1963, Steve McQueen wore the A-2 as Hilts, "The Cooler King", in The Great Escape. A new generation discovered a jacket that had already proven itself, and its place as a style icon was secured.
Our version honours both stories. Built in vintage-washed cow leather, it remains faithful to the proportions and detailing of the original while being made to wear, age and improve with every journey.
