The ideal companion for your winter wardrobe

"The Scarf is beautiful and exactly as pictured. Customer service was above and beyond!"

Introducing the Vale Scarf, the ideal companion for your winter wardrobe.

The Vale, the latest addition to our range of scarves, is a chunky, grey weave that creates a unique texture and is finished with a ribbed navy edge for that traditional look. The mid-grey hue is a perfect shade to be combined with almost any of our products.

The scarf has been crafted from the 'dead stock' of our Rockingham Jumper yarn, which further improves the sustainability credentials of the garment.

We recommend wearing it with our Weston Field Jacket in the autumn and our navy Boardwalk Peacoat in the Winter.

  • Made with the grey yarn from the Rockingham jumper.

Popularised by aviators in both World Wars to keep their necks warm and prevent chaffing, scarves have been a staple in men’s wardrobes for over 2000 years. In Ancient Rome, men wore them as 'sweat cloths' used to keep cool and dry sweat. The military has also used them as rank insignia and unit designators for many years, from the Terracotta Warriors of China to modern-day desert military units.

   Style Tip:

The Drape is the simplest of all and sometimes, all you need. Simply drape the scarf around the back of the neck and let it fall on either side to add another layer and pop of colour.

Overhand Knot (Also known as Ascot) Lay the scarf over your shoulders. Take both ends of the scarf, and tie them “over and under,” as if you were starting to do up a giant pair of shoelaces. Adjust the front to be a bit smooth and tighten closer to the neck as desired. Looks great tucked underneath a chore jacket.

The “Parisian” Fold the scarf in half in the middle so that the ends touch and hold the doubled-over bend in one hand while passing the loose ends around the back of your neck with the other. Tuck the ends through the bend and pull snugly. This is the most common look in the &SONS style catalogue.
