ORIGINS

Polo shirts were originally designed to be practical uniforms for various athletes. Similar garments were crafted in 1929 for French Tennis Players and in the 1930s they were used for polo players, hence the name.  

Made from chunky cotton the shirt gained popularity throughout the years and spread beyond the world of sports. A large number of stars throughout the ‘50s and ‘60s wore Polo Shirts as relaxed streetwear pieces. James Dean, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, and Sean Connery, all styled them in their own way - underneath light summer blazers, layered with V-neck jumpers or rocked on their own. The cinematic icons proved that the Polo shirt is a versatile and stylish piece for any occasion and is an elegant yet masculine piece to welcome in the Spring and Summer seasons.
